Ready to get creative? Join architect and artist Robyn Squires [RYSQ] for a hands-on workshop where you’ll explore the unique combination of concrete and natural dyes.
In this session, you will learn to craft your own bespoke back of concrete to mix and cast; and then blend with beautiful, natural colors from plant-based dyes like Japanese indigo and butterfly pea flower tea combined with festive holiday accents of copper, gold, and silver inks.
You will create and finish your own bespoke home décor pieces, focusing on:
Mixing and Molding: Mastering the technique for creating unique, handcrafted candle holders or a unique pillow vessel that often mystifies the observer with its soft appearances juxtaposed to its unexpected hard material construct.
Natural Infusion: Experimenting with a different approach to casting small batch concrete in an approachable way using more sustainable materials.
Bespoke Design: Creating objects designed to fit your lifestyle. Your multifunctional artifact can be used as a candle vessel, incense holder or jewelry display.
This is a fantastic chance to explore the sensory language of texture and color as you create a one-of-a-kind piece for your home. You will take home a unique pair of finished concrete holders at the end of the evening!
Enjoy complimentary sips and bites during the holiday workshops!
